Mrs A does the London Marathon

2022 - Mrs A's big comeback!. After lockdown #1 #2 and #3 trainers were cast aside and abandoned.

After far too long sitting around on my bum I was offered chance to run the #LondonMarathon for the Heathrow Community Trust and the Dougie Mac in Stoke; so how could I refuse?

I mean.. running around London for 26.2 miles with 000's of others raising money!!

Who could say no??

I'm raising spondoolies for two charities:

Heathrow Community Trust

The HCT was set up in 1996 to improve the quality of life for communities near the airport through education and community projects focused on enhancing people’s skills, aspiration, resilience and employability, as well as improving community green spaces and projects bringing communities together.

Heathrow Community Trust (HCT) receives an annual donation from Heathrow as well as donations from other companies involved in the airport. Income is raised from sponsored events involving Team Heathrow colleagues like me!

The Douglas Macmillan Hospice (Dougie Mac, Stoke)

On Sunday 24th April 2022 our wonderful, vibrant and much loved Auntie Deb peacefully passed away at the Dougie Mac with her beloved partner Neil by her side. Just a few short weeks after diagnosis, Deb spent her final days in receipt of palliative care from the wonderful staff at the hospice. Words can't express our family's loss or the thanks and gratitude we feel for the Dougie Mac but sending some fundraising their way can help other families be supported as we were.

Every year, Dougie Mac provides all hospice services free of charge to over 3,500 local people with life-limiting illnesses in Stoke-on-Trent, North Staffordshire and the surrounding villages; also offering supportive care for their families and carers. At Dougie Mac they are committed to expanding and improving services, always striving to deliver the very best quality of care to meet the ever-changing needs of the local community.
