My story
On the 5th September, I’ll be taking on a 25km race through Snowdonia to raise money for the National Volunteering Fund.
Volunteering has become a huge part of my life. At 18 years old, I volunteer with the Welsh Ambulance Service, where I’ve seen first hand the impact volunteers have within communities every single day. Volunteers are often the people giving up their evenings, weekends, and personal time to support others during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Whether it’s responding to emergencies, supporting vulnerable people, helping at community events, assisting healthcare services, or simply being there for someone who needs reassurance and support, volunteers play a massive role behind the scenes that often goes unnoticed.
What makes volunteering so important is that many services and community projects rely heavily on people willing to step forward and help others without expecting anything in return. Volunteers help reduce pressure on emergency services, support local communities during difficult times, provide care and reassurance to people in need, and help create safer and stronger communities overall. Without volunteers, many organisations simply wouldn’t be able to provide the same level of support they do today.
Through my own experiences volunteering, I’ve learned the importance of teamwork, resilience, and helping people when they need it most. I’ve met incredible individuals who dedicate huge amounts of their lives to supporting complete strangers purely because they care about making a difference. That dedication is one of the main reasons I wanted to take on this challenge.
Running 25km through the mountains of Snowdonia National Park will be physically and mentally demanding, with steep climbs, difficult terrain, and long distances, but it feels like the perfect way to support a cause that means so much to me.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help support volunteering opportunities, training, resources, and the volunteers who continue to make a real difference every single day. Thank you so much for your support, it genuinely means a lot.
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust Charity.
