Nicholas Carnevale
Hello, My name is Nicholas Carnevale. My wife’s name is Jenny Carnevale. I would like to share an experience with recently had involving 2 of your wonderful colleagues. The names of the paramedics who were fantastic are Darren Williams & Deb Hurms (possibly a typo for Deb’s surname). The date the paramedics attended the incident was 11/7/26 at 7:15 am. This incident involves my Father in law, Peter Smith who has only very recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. My mother in law , although not yet diagnosed, looks to be suffering from dementia. My father in law returned home from Glan Clwyd for palliative care on Friday 10th of July , 2026. Unfortunately he fell to the living room floor during the night. My wife made a 999 call approximately 12am. The paramedics; Deb Hurms & Darren Williams arrived at 7:15am & were absolutely amazing & went well above & beyond their duties. After attending to my father in law Peter , they said how appalled they were at the preparations for palliative care for Peter, due to how ill he was as they believed he was too ill to of been allowed home. They then stayed with my wife & myself until Peter was settled & then proceeded to contact every possible available person ( on a Saturday morning ) , to arrange a bed in hospice care . When no hospice place was found , they then said if we were willing to provide care for Peter, as my mother in law was clearly unable to provide this care, they would contact every possible person to arrange care in the community from MacMillan nurses, District nurses, palliative care teams,Marie Curie nurses etc. They then stayed with us until support arrived. My father in law sadly passed at home with family around him on July 15th, 2026. The initial assistance from Deb & Darren was absolutely amazing. Thank you so much Deb & Darren, we will never forget you help at a very distressing time. I would like to make a donation to show our appreciation. Kind regards, Nick Carnevale
